In this introductory woodwinds class, students will learn the basics of breath control, music notation, and ensemble playing using flutes and recorders. This class is perfect for the upper elementary student interested in refining skills in preparation for playing flute, clarinet, oboe, or saxophone in a band or orchestra setting.
Grante Shurtleff
Grante has played the flute for almost 20 years. One of his favorite parts is finding flute music to play that listeners get unexpected joy from hearing! His favorite composer is Joe Hisaishi. In his free time, Grante enjoys hiking with his wife and two kids, visiting the the beach and reading fantasy and sci-fi stories. Grante regularly plays with the Greenville Concert Band and the Southern Harmony Flute Choir.
